Now onto the second round of First impression, there are a lot of shows this season alone, we have new shows, more second and third seasons, some shows getting more than a few episode. With so many shows one thing we can count on all sort of art styles, and we get just that, full CGI, CGI with anime, anime in detail to sketchy art style, which ever you like I’m sure there will be something for everyone to enjoy, so with that lets continue with the second part of my fall first impressions.
This Week on First impressions We have
with so many series to watch this season I wanted to give shows i wouldn’t normally try a chance to surprise me, and are first one happens to be Walkure Romanze. Now at first I thought this could be a pretty neat idea for an anime, Jousting is a pretty cool sport and I’m sure it’s fun to watch, as an anime I was quite curious to see how it will do. Welp after the first episode it felt blah slow, trying to be silly…so i’ll say it was blah-ly-decent, I’m sure if I drop this one I wont miss much, the art is pretty, the story isn’t too hard to follow, but none of the characters really stand out to me. They just don’t hold my interest to care much at what’s going on, the main girl I get the feeling will be a dumb luck character, the main guy just feel lacking, the horse might be more fun to watch, they do look pretty nice. Though character aside what about those unneeded panty shots, really? sounds a bit disparate, but what can you do about it, I just feel this one is lacking something to hold my interest. So bottom line is I’ll give this one a bout 2 more episodes to see if it will grow on me and make me change my mind but it’s not looking good for this one… So here goes to giving it a fair chance.
Gundam Build Fighters
Yay more gundam, now with actual plastic models! Now I like gundam but god damnit this pokemon style art, a lot like Gundam Age it’s just not my thing, Gundam Age DID have some good scenes, and I’m sure this one will too.
Now I do like the idea that this series has, fighting with plastic gundam models, if they could make this a reality, that would actually be pretty awesome, I mean the whole setup, build your model and use it to fight in a battle, that would be pretty neat. anyways being its owned by gundam we get to see all these old school gundam’s fighting other old school or even newer gundams, now that alone might be worth watching this for. Come on Unicorn vs wing zero! This series reminds me of Angelic layer, a series that I actually enjoyed watching, maybe because CLAMP and the main character was a girl.. I don’t know but was quite entertaining and had some great moments. Now Gundam Build Fighters, for some reason i feel like it’s not going to keep my attention and its sad really beacuse gundam use to be so awesome till gundam seed….but after the first episode, there was really no hook no reason to be the best, and on top and not only that but someone else gets to do the fighting? what? i wanted Iori to build up the courage to fight by himself, and not by some magical force or Seedmode, learning through training, But now they went with some gay wish thing and ill be by your side.. lame! So the gundams fighting each other might be the only reason I bother with this one..so well see with more of this one.
My beloved voice actress Kanemoto, Hisako is back and playing as Saeki in Gingitsune such a cute and fun character with that added voice how could you NOT want to check this one out? Now at first this series sounded kinda blah to me and the giant fox fury thing wanted me to just not bother with this one, but I gave other shows a chance and at least this one sounds nice? First episode was great, a little emotional, a little cute, and just the right amount of story to make me want to see more and what else Saeki will have to deal with later on. I wont lie this one did get me a little teary eyed at one point, so if that happened then it might be worth sticking around for, at least her voice is nice for Saeki right?!
Non Non Biyori
Elementary school student Hotaru Ichijou has moved with her parents from Tokyo to the middle of the country. Now she must adapt to her new school, where there are a total of 5 students in the same class who range through elementary and middle school ages. Join their everyday adventures in the countryside.
Okay going into this series knowing only that it was a couple of students in different grades going to school today for some slice of life style story. Now i couldn’t help but think about Higurashi, which it’s probably the same arae, but without the deadly virus, killing, blood, and crazy faces. First episode was quite quite… SLOW, but still provided a bit of entertainment, though for a change of pace this one might be a good fit in all the crazy action shows that I’ve already going to invest my time into. I nearly feel out of my chair when Hotaru Ichijou said she was a 5th grader…sorry she looks older than that.. in a way she looks 9th grade? but well girls look older younger or something it just didn’t fit right. But the most amusing one of them all is Renge Miyauchi, she is great, Meowning! and the whole “are we in the country” bit was funny to watch them all try to hide that fact or try to figure the differnece and crushing everything right at the end after trying hard to not to come out and say it, Sorry Miy-chan you’re a country girl.
So did anyone watch the first season? Welp this person did and well… parts were awesome, others were lame and the main 2 characters are even lamer, sigh Satellizer el Bridget still shy and clumsy as ever, just like samurai bride I won’t lie to myself again. Samurai Girls was good, I wanted Juubei Yagyuu to stay badass and awesome, when brides came out I expected her to be badass more than ..special, boy was I wrong. So with Freezing I know Bridget will be forever shy, easily embarrassed and clumsy for MOST of the anime and she’ll be badass when fighting. Anyways I’m hoping to see more of these monsters they fight, and lots of new characters and old characters that I like giving our mains a hand and what not. Big boobs that grow each new frame, no loli kids running around, clothes ripping off and enough panty shots to make anyone blush.. though somewhere down the lines you develop some sort of immunity to it, at least that’s what it seems like. Well hopefully ill get some entertaining action from this series I’m looking forward to something great from this one.. lets hope.
Reading the summary on this one I automatically thought “Oh great another SAO/ .Hack series with people stuck in a fantasy online game..” though with that in mind I was curious in seeing what they can possible do to make things different from those series. The first episode wasn’t too bad and I liked how the combat works in this one, it took them a bit to figure out that they couldn’t just point and click an ability, but rather ignore the game commands and just perform the moves with the body. I also like the characters, Naotsugu seems like a funny guy with his openness about being a pervert, Shiroe our smart glasses tactical leader figure, and Akatsuki, the assassin who is saved by Shiroe is ends up joining the team, I just like how Naotsugu and Akatsuki interact with each other, kneeing him in the face when he says something he shouldn’t. I’d like to see how the other mechanics work, mainly how death works and can they be rezzed or what? other than that the story sounds kinda blah with no real goal set yet so hopefully the next two episode will explain it, right now I’m pretty excited about this one.
Diamond no Ace
This season has a few sport themed series and I normally skip them, either they don’t hold my interest or I don’t know much about the sport to bother with them. With this one i know a little bit about baseball so i should give this a shot, and being it’s the first season i feel i could actually get into it and maybe like it. The first episode was pretty neat, I liked how the main guy knows that the sport can’t be won without the team, so already he has a good head on his shoulders, I kept waiting for his whole team to be invited to play which I hope happens because it would be neat, however I doubt thats the case here. So with that I’m pretty much excited to see what happens in this story and If i will enjoy this one to the end. My only problem with these sport shows you know in the end they will be victorious but knowing that I think what will hold my attention will be HOW they get to that point.
Magi: The Kingdom of Magic
Awesomeness Magi back! I have heard some great things about the manga, which I’ve not even read yet. I did enjoy the first season, I really enjoyed it leaving me wanting more. When season one came out I wasn’t too sure about it, it’s not something I thought would interest me but it grew on me and I came to liking it, so finding out season two was coming this fall I couldn’t help but be excited for it. Now I just wonder what will happen to the story this season and with the first episode giving me only a vague idea whats direction the story will be heading, and from the hype and manga talk it sounds quite interesting so ya, im pretty excited for this one for sure, hopefully it will be a great and entertaining watch.
Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta
This season is chock full of surprises, seeing a few ONA and OVA’s making it to series is pretty cool, first with Kyousougiga and now this one. I am just overly happy Yozakura Quartet finally got a series, but almost feels like it’s still not enough but I’m just satisfied with this for now. The animation isn’t the best but it doesn’t bother me too much it reminds me a little less than kyousougiga or even Kill la kill, which for me this art style is fun and full of exciting and over the top action scenes. The first episode felt great because it wasn’t a big recap so we will be able to explore more of the story, all the old characters are back while mixing in some new villains give this series a new direction for me, so I can’t wait to see whats to come as this series goes on, hopefully it will be a fun and entertaining series.
Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio
Oh noes! Not the Fog! scary! oh wait.. that’s a different movie, Welp.. a Fleet of Fog (battleships) loades with super awesome weapons? oh okay that might be cool then. So watching the first episode all I have to say is…wow.. they went with a full CGI, thats a little disappointing, maybe they will hide the characters with long cool awesome ship battles..maybe. I don’t mind the CGI, but id admit some parts do look bad like it feels too robotic but I’m sure I’ll probably get use to it and continue to watch this series, if I didn’t have a lot of time this series would be either dropped or added my watch later list, but for now I have the time so its like why not, maybe they might surprise me. So far The idea of this series is what keeping me around, I do like battleships, subs, and big ship destroyers, all controlled by Robots and androids that look and feel like humans and our main group and his friends have control of a sub to fight the Fleet of Fog. I did enjoy the first battle they had, but it was too short due to jumping around all over in the episode to give us the plot I guess, it was enough to wonder how awesome a full-scale battle will be like, I heard it gets much better so im quite curious to see that for myself.
Kikou Shoujo wa Kizutsukanai
So this series sparked my interest, magic in the 20th century this magic is put into object to bring them to life and they even gain their own personality’s that sound pretty cool. But where its loses me is the battling each other bit.. reminds me of yugioh or zach bell, never liked any of those series so this one might not be as interesting after all. The art style also bugs me, the background feels like it doesn’t quite fit with the characters, it could be for an artistic feel and some of the dolls designs look poorly done just looks too plain not much detail to em. The first episode wasn’t bad, Yaya grew quite annoying for me, all over her master, even wanting to sleep with him every night.. just LOVE me master! Raishin seems like your everyday main character fixated on his goal not caring about anything but at least he’s not a doll freak who’s madly in love with his doll right?. so anyways this series has two strikes against it for me on a personal level and my own taste, however I’m willing to give this one a little more time, maybe it will grow on me well see.
Welp here is another sport show that has my interest, I stated before that I don’t really pick up many sporty shows but after picking up that sport anime, Diamond no Ace, I figured hey why not pick up this one too and check it out. So I did and the first episode I could actually enjoy this one, it totally reminds me of Eyeshield, and I feel that’s how things may end up. What i mean is the main guy is good at running because of bullies, and so becomes their ace runner, now with this one, he pedals up a tough up a steep road on a mamchari bike made for short trips, so one must wonder how good he would be on an actually racing bike? Character aren’t too bad, the main guy just doesn’t know what he’s destined for, and there are girls in this one! ones cute while the other kinda… looks scary, the bike racing team all look intimidating almost like Sakamichi Onoda doesn’t fit at all. The story is basic and pretty easy to follow but these type of sport shows make it fun to watch to see how our characters will shock and amaze the other teams, and How they win each match so I’m really looking forward to see if this one will keep me wanting more.
