Summer 2013 – First Impressions

FIPOP

Welcome back to Kawaiiosity, place of most things curious and everything is super kawaii! Hope your summer is starting off right and looking forward to what summer has to offer in Anime. We start things off here with first impressions of the many shows this 2013 summer season, I generally wait till the show airs and put them all in a list of the show that I’ll actually watch. I usually watch anything and everything and give a series at least 3 episodes before I drop them, Because usually I find a show that even surprises me and gives me just an idea of what I will expect from the show. So with that let’s move onto this 2013 summer season first impressions.

Blood Lad

A15136-1597995290.1364642209

Episodes: 12
Genres: Comedy, Demons, Vampire,Supernatural, Seinen
Producers: Brains Base, Viz Media
Synopsis: Staz is the vampire boss of a section of the demon world, but he has little interest in human blood. He’s more infatuated with Japanese culture. When he learns that Yanagi Fuyumi, a Japanese teenage girl, accidentally wanders into the demon city, he jumps to the occasion. However, while Staz deals with an intruder on his turf, the oblivious Fuyumi is killed by a monster and becomes a wandering ghost. The disappointed Staz vows to her that he will find a way to bring Fuyumi back to life.

At first this one seemed kinda ehh and I wasn’t really thrilled to watch it, but I kept thinking it might be like Kore wa Zombie Desu ka or even Hataraku Maou-sama, and so I figured might as well check it out. With those in mind, this one still felt meh, Neat idea for a story but I don’t know quite yet, I’ll let it grow on me before I decide what to do with it. What I liked about it was well the story, it sounds pretty interesting enough, a Vampire otaku  meets a human girl, and end up going to the human world to help the girl get her life back. It may not be as funny as Maou-sama, or as good as Kore wa Zombie, but it has my attention enough to keep with it for now, I am curious to see how this one will do as a comedy, and will there be a ton of parodies? who knows but we’ll wait and see.

Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai: Megami-hen

A15334-1712535344.1372259159

Episodes: 12
Genres: Comedy, Romance, Shounen,Harem, Supernatural
Producers: Manglobe
Synopsis: Third season of Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai.

So um.. what a really really confusing series that maybe I missed somehow or dropped without noticing or… didn’t catch-all the OVA’s. There were two stories I missed, the one with Yui Goido switched bodies arc, and Tsukiyo Kujo Obsessed with beauty that turns into a doll arc, How did I miss those, who knows, but I can pretty much guess what happened so not at a total loss. So from what I can gather this time around, is the girls remember everything due to having a god inside them and are being hunted from demons or something. So this might be a neat idea for this series and maybe something more violent, so yeah I’am curiously looking forward to see how this will turn out.

WATAMOTE

A15008-1451129919.1370526721

Episodes: 12
Genres: Comedy, School, Shounen
Producers: Square Enix, Silver Link, Sentai Filmworks, Watamote Production Committee
Synopsis: Kuroki Tomoko is a super popular, high school girl who has had 50 years of dating experience and 100 boys… in the Otome game world. In the real world, she is a 15-year-old shut in who has all of the qualities of a “mojo” (a gloomy or unpopular woman). However, when school isn’t going as she expected, and she isn’t as popular as she had thought she was, she takes a look at herself in the mirror for the first time in a few years, and has some shocking revelations.

OMG this series is too much for me, which is a good thing, watching this one I couldn’t stop laughing at Kuroki Tomoko comments toward people, how she thinks of the world then realised she isn’t what she thought, I only seen a few manga clips and it looks like this one is going to be a very hilarious and very greatly entertaining show because I was indeed entertained all the way through, and its only the first episode. I am already wanting to re watch it as I write this haha, Her twin tail look… hahah that is just too funny…what a poor little sister, Can’t wait to see more of this crazy series and I wonder if it will some type of moral at the end, something sweet and how she will make friends.. but my god this series will be great, can’t wait to see where things will end up with this one.

Senyuu. 2

A15295-2247508937.1367204444

Episodes: 13
Genres: Action, Comedy, Fantasy,Shounen
Producers: Ordet, LIDEN FILMS
Synopsis: Second season of Senyuu.

Not much to say on this one But one thing! The is one series that is nice to watch, it’s both a mindlessly joy ride without much to it but for a few laughs and amusement. So far I don’t know what is going on but I don’t really mind, with so many characters and the random story going all over the place I still find it quite entertaining even though it’s only a five-minute series. All I’m looking forward to really is what will happen this time around and can it keep me entertained? what other characters will we meet and how will things turn out for our hero?

Free!

51107

Episodes: 12
Genres: Sports
Producers: Kyoto Animation, Lantis, Animation Do, Iwatobi High School Swimming Club
Synopsis: The story revolves around Haruka Nanase, a boy who has always loved to be immersed in water, and to swim in it. Before graduating from elementary school, he participated in a swimming tournament along with his fellow swimming club members, Makoto Tachibana, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rin Matsuoka. After achieving victory, each of the boys went their separate ways. Time passed, and in the middle of their uneventful high school lives Rin appears and challenges Haruka to a match, showing Haruka his overwhelming power. Not wanting it to end like this, Haruka, gathers together Makoto and Nagisa once again and brings a new member named Rei Ryugazaki to create the Iwatobi High School Swimming Club in order to defeat Rin.

So ya…… what to say about this one….. Well so far I’m going to keep watching to see how things start to develop between everyone,I don’t necessarily like Nagisa Hazuki or Makoto Tachibana, ones act too much like a kid, while the other is this gentle giant. I do like Haruka Nanase and Rin Matsuoka, they seem to fit what I expected and I do like the rivalry between them, Rin seems to be this ace swimming with the best training, where Haruka just loves to be in the water, so it will be fun to see who’s more skillful. I personally hope things stay on the sport track like Teamwork, swimming against other teams, how they reach their goal, I love watching swimming competitions, be it olympics or whatever, just hopefully this series turns out to be something amazing that isn’t focused on much fan service, sorry ladies!

Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C³-bu

50699l

Episodes: 13
Genres: School, Military
Producers: Gainax, Pony Canyon, TBS, Sentai Filmworks
Synopsis: Yura Yamato has just arrived at the high school division of Stella Women’s Academy, when Sonora Kashima invites her to join a club called “C³”. Sonora is the third-year student who became the new head of this club for military survival games. The other members include two second-year students (part-Japanese Karila Hatsuse and G36K-wielding Honoka Mutsu) and two other new students (Rento Kirishima whose family runs a Japanese sweets shop and the really short Yachiyo Hinata).

Moe Girls with Airsoft guns and it’s by Gainax! need I say more? No really I’ll say more. Looking at the summer list this one was the most awesome and I’m already thinking if it would be similar to Upotte and Girls und Panzer. With those shows in mind I have high expectations that this one will be outstanding, and with the after seeing the first episode it let a great impression on me, very enjoyable even all the characters are fun to watch.  Yura Yamato stole the show for me, a shy girl playing army with herself was too cute and adorably silly, just how I like it. So I’m hoping great things from this one, and I am looking forward to see how Gainax does because I’ve seen lots of their works and so far I like what they do so I’m sure this will be no exception.

Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei – The Animation

Danganronpa The Animation - OP - Large 06

Episodes: 13
Genres: Action, Mystery, Horror,Psychological
Producers: Geneon Universal Entertainment, FUNimation Entertainment, Lerche, Showgate
Synopsis: A group of 15 elite high school students are gathered at a very special, high-class high school. To graduate from this high school essentially means you’ll succeed in life, but graduating is very difficult. The school is presided over by a bear called Monokuma, and he explains to them that their graduation hinges around committing a murder. The only way to graduate is to kill one of your classmates and get away with it. If the other classmates discover the identity of the killer, the killer is the only one executed. However, if they fail to catch the killer, only the killer graduates and the others are annihilated. Which of the 15 will survive the bloodbath to come?

This one seems very VERY interesting, me any my brother were saying what we think it’s like, from calling it Big Brother (the not for TV version), meets deadman wonderland, meets clue, meets Persona meets Mirai Nikki, I could go on forever listing other shows like it. however I’m not too excited about this one because it sounds like soo many other shows, but with soo many characters It might become quite entertaining to see how they all survive this and watch who will backstab who first! I think Sayaka Maizono is playing Makoto Naegi so bad.. but she seems to be the one I am mostly interested in so far. When watching this series I couldn’t help but feel like it’s all the characters from Street fighter living together under one roof and the only way out is to kill each other, so ya.. this one might prove to be something quite entertaining.

Servant x Service

51579

Episodes: 13
Genres: Comedy, Slice of Life
Producers: Aniplex, A-1 Pictures, Half H.P Studio, Aniplex of America
Synopsis: Anime about the staff of the health and welfare section of the ward office of a certain city. Newcomers Hasebe Yutaka, Yamagami, Miyoshi Saya, and their supervisor Ichimiya Taishi go through the everyday quirks of working at their office.

A lot like the anime working, but this time it a business/office themed. At first I wasn’t too excited for this one, sure its a silly idea for an anime but somehow works out fine. Only at moments its funny and others times it just feels meh. So this one is a good one to watch out of boredom and if anything else it will just be a good laugh.

Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku

A15339-1763752136.1369317370

Episodes: 12
Genres: School, Seinen
Producers: Nomad
Synopsis: When a friend asks Natsuki what high school club she’s going to join, she cheerfully responds “the go-home club” (meaning, she’s not going to join any of them). However, she soon realizes that this club actually exists at her high school, and she’s just expressed interest in joining it! Before she knows it, she ends up as one of the two new members of “the go-home club,” which is a small group of eccentric school girls. One of the girls likes fighting bears, while another is ridiculously rich. But what exactly constitutes the activities of “the go-home club”?

So this summer season it feels like there are A LOT of club theme shows and a lot of comedy shows so its hard to really say much about them each and every one of them besides saying its funny. Like this one it is a good laugh but I wouldn’t say its hilarious because I feel its one of those meh comedies, if I had to pick one comedy that was great this one wouldn’t be it, I mean its good but it’s not great compared to what else is offered this season. But in all good fun I’ll stick to this one and watch it with a few laughs and watch how silly they all act around each other because they were all pretty crazy and out there, but my favorite so far is Karin Touno she’s soo nice and cute… and a little airheaded but she’s a great character to watch in this.

Love Lab

A14896-1746574758.1363996203

Episodes: 13
Genres: Comedy, Romance, School
Producers: Aniplex, Dogakobo
Synopsis: The Fujisaki Girls Academy is known for their school body being composed of very proper students. The most prominent one of them is Maki, the student president who is admired by her classmates for her calm and polite demeanor. On the other hand, Kurahashi Riko is also admired but for having a very forward and boyish personality. Riko accidentally walks into Maki while she’s practicing kissing with a pillow and learns that she isn’t what everyone thinks she is. Riko is forced into keeping Maki’s secret and join her in practicing all aspects of romance like holding hands and more.

So.. another comedy club school series but this one seems to be a bit bitter then Kitakubu in my opinion, never have I seen a student president act so silly and well… un-student-president-like. I am sure everyone can agree with me that Kurahashi Riko, with her double fangs is the best character so far, I also like how she acts around Natsuo Maki, oh those two! Maki is most amusing to watch almost like she can’t sit still for five minutes what a crazy off-the-wall character. This one had me laughing pretty hard so its doing something right, maybe it’s because of Riko… she is one of my ideal type of characters with a personality I like. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the group and see how Maki will finally make her first friend, I feel this one will actually be a good one to watch and feel like you may get something out of it.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear G

A15228-2261602056.1372417775

Episodes: 13
Genres: Action, Music, Sci-Fi
Producers: Satelight, Starchild Records
Synopsis: The second season of Senki Zesshou Symphogear.

Now I DID NOT like the first one but after watching it all the way through it turned out pretty.. uh decent, but still when I seen this one on the list I couldn’t help but felt meh. But hey maybe they will prove to me why they got a second season. As I watched the first episode it seems like they either got a bigger budget or threw everything they had into the first episode to knock you off your feet making you go “Oh wow..”, lots of action already and its only the first episode. However with all the action taking place they introduce something new and where the plot will be heading. What do you know the main villain in this series is right there on stage with some surprising powers and declaring war right off the bat.. So I’m hoping this one become something…good? I don’t know I still feel I shouldn’t waste my time but hey… why not..right?

Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya

47905l

Episodes: 12
Genres: Action, Comedy, Fantasy,Magic
Producers: Silver Link, Sentai Filmworks
Synopsis: Spin-off of Fate/stay night with Illyasviel von Einzbern as the protagonist, living an alternate life as a school girl.

This one looked like it was going to be quite amusingly entertaining, not for just having the Fate characters  but Illya is soo adorable living a school life and to top it off she’s a magical girl. First thought on this one was the character designs don’t quite look that great, it’s not all that bad I mean they did make Illya look ultra cute, but sadly didn’t work for Rin Tohsaka, I mean she looked alright with huge ears and as for, sadly Shirou Emiya he looked quite terrible! But the design aren’t what hooked me into this series what did was the staffs, Magical Ruby staff was soo hilarious in the first episode and Illya was so scared of the darn thing it was both adorable and cute and oh so silly. Now all that’s left is to see how the other characters play into this crazy series that seems like a collecting card game plot, with the cards being the Fate heroes, or something. So this one is for sure a keeper and I’m sure we will have lots of fun with this one.

Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou

A15178-996646491.1370159601

Episodes: 12
Genres: Magic
Producers: Aniplex, AIC, Aniplex of America
Synopsis: Since ancient times long past, this world has been ruled by two tarot cards. Diablos Tarot—The tarot of the devil that feasts on the souls of living humans and uses that nourishment to bring countless pain and suffering Elemental Tarot—The tarot that draws its energy from the power of nature in order to oppose the Diablos Tarot. Girls chosen from 22 different bloodlines become the welders of the Elemental Tarot, plunging themselves into this secret battle. To maintain the balance of this world, while carrying unbearable guilt… Are they executioners? Or saviors? This is the story of the long, long battle fought by girls who cannot escape the fate they bear.

First off, this one is being compared to Madoka Magica and I agree but not completely, yes it has the same elements such as the dark themes and suffering magical girls. BUT what it feels like mostly to me in my opinion is Black Rock Shooter, because if feels like once she a magical girl she a different person fighting in a different world, but what seems to happen during this time she actually affects the real world, quite interesting. But that aside I think this series is going to be really good, the first episode wasn’t bad and it left a lot out almost leaving you confused, but that just makes me want to watch it even more to find out what really is happening in this anime. Being a Magical girl fan-boy this one has my attention full on for it’s dark theme route and well magical girls, so I’ll stay with this one till the end for sure.

Monogatari Series: Second Season

A15054-267329952.1357945321

Episodes: 13
Genres: Comedy, Ecchi, Romance,Supernatural
Producers: Aniplex, Shaft, Aniplex of America
Synopsis: Adaptation of the second season of the Monogatari Series.

YES! finally it’s here! the series I have been most anticipating, seeing this on the summer list made me really excited for this season alone. If that dosn’t make me sound like a huge fan of the Ogatari series then I don’t know what would. There is lots to love about this series like, the artwork is always top notch, the characters we love are all there, and that wonderful dialog we all love  so much is there, and the animation is expected to be as good! As for characters I dunno if the sisters will be in the spotlight much or even much of this series at all which might be a bummer but they are in the cast so they will be around. What I’m hoping for is more interaction with Shinobu! she’s my favorite of all the others and as much as I like her loli kid look, I wanna see more of her teenager look. So the actual episode, one thing I noticed first was the hairstyle Senjougahara and Hanekawa have ,why did they go short I already miss their long hair, but hey the its growing on me so not all is lost. Also looks like we are going with Hanekawa story with a tiger first, Senjougahara completely took me by surprise when she met with Hanekawa in her new place, almost shocking how she seem quite different. Then in the last bit.. Oh My oh my indeed, already in the first episode Senjougahara is taking her clothes off, I love the line where she says she will tease Araragi about being the first to see Hanekawa naked haha. So this series I can safely say will be the highlight of the weeks to come for me, I’m sure there will be much to look forward in this series as well and I’ll say it again, this series has me the most excited this season woot woot.

Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi

A15105-2656027963.1364704767

Episodes: 13
Genres: Mystery, Fantasy
Producers: Madhouse Studios, Starchild Records, Sentai Filmworks
Synopsis: God abandoned the world on Sunday. As a result, nobody in the world can die or reproduce. A little girl, Ai, is the gravekeeper for a village. She has prepared 47 graves for the eventual deaths of every member of the village. Later, a boy who identifies himself as “Hampnie Hambart, the ‘Man-eating Toy’,” which is coincidentally the name that Ai’s mother left behind as the name of her father, arrives in the village and slaughters everybody. Just what is going on?

—-

Right off the bat the gravekeeper, Ai Astin looks a lot like Sakura Kinomoto, all Ai needs is sakura little ‘ehh’ sounds and being a magical girl. But that aside.. this one… I have a feeling I’ll be dropping this soon, its story is kinda strange but I guessed what happened in the first episode right away so I would assume this one isn’t hard to pay attention to. At the ending it left me wondering what now? what’s going to happen next? and after the ending I sorta wanna know more before I give my final verdict if I’m going to drop this series or stay with it.. so we’ll have to see with more of this series.

Uchouten Kazoku

A15205-2389533942.1366656346

Episodes: 13
Genres: Comedy, Fantasy
Producers: Bandai Visual, Lantis, P.A. Works, YTV, Magic Capsule, Uchouten Kazoku Production Committee
Synopsis: In Kyoto, there are three kinds of residents: humans, tanuki, and tengu. Shimogamo Yasaburou is the third son of the Shimogamo tanuki family. His father, Souichirou, had been the head of Kyoto tanuki community until he was eaten by the human members of “Friday Club”. While taking care of an old tengu, fighting with other tanuki, and playing with a psychic human girl, Yasaburou approaches the truth of his father’s death.

So this one.. it seems like it will be a nice story to get into, it is quite interesting to say the least, at first I wasn’t sure what to think, it sounds kinda lame but watching the first episode it wasn’t all bad. I was drawn in by the background artwork with its almost realism and surreal look. The characters kind of don’t fit almost looking out-of-place, but I actually like the simple character design, mixing them together gives it a unique taste I’ll say. The pace of the show is slow but that’s not a bad thing because it feels like one that you can relax and watch with all the pretty bright colors and simple characters but its story is a little out there and felt confusing but maybe that’s me. I’ll definitely stick to this one to find out more, and I have a feeling this was the middle point and now we will find out How these characters came together or so. So I like this one and hope to enjoy it.

FIPSS

So ya that’s everything that this summer has to offer that I’m either excited about or mostly interested in, and I’m sure I’ll be dropping some along the way, as for what I’m going to blog this season.. times short so I’m not too sure what show I want to blog right now, it’s a toss-up between Monogatari Series: Second Season, Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C³-bu, or Genei wo Kakeru Taiyou. What I am leaning toward is most likely be Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C³-bu, because its made by Gainax, a company I like most of all, the Genre is a very neat idea, and it looks really adorably silly and cute so I’m sure to have a lot of fun with it. as for Monogatari… I feel like it would be quite a challenge to take on which wouldn’t be a bad thing for me..but I don’t wanna load myself up with too much work, I’m still new at blogging here so trying to learn how to do things. And for Genei wo kakeru Taiyou.. Not sure yet, I DO like that its going the dark magicsl girl route and well.. being a fan of those it would be right up my alley you’d think. So I dunno.. maybe do all 3 and see how that goes, but I hate to pick up a show to blog and turn around and stop blogging it, so we’ll see how things play out. This summer season looks great and I’m sure we will have plenty to watch and with my list as large as it is I made a special list of shows that I am mostly excited about and I know for sure that I’ll be watching till they end. So with that here is my final list of what shows are awesome and I know I’ll be watching:

Watamote!
Senyuu. 2
Free!
Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince
Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C3-bu
Danganronpa – The Animation
Love Lab
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S

Hentai Prince – Episode 9 & 10 – Let’s go to the past, nyan!

Welcome back to Kawaiiosity hope everyone had a great Fathers day weekend, I took some time off to review my own writing, it feels somewhat lacking, a bit messy, and unorganized. So bear with me as I figure that out and keep trying to improve, thanks. Now then let’s jump into episode nine and ten of Hentai Prince.

Hentai Prince – episode 8 – Ecchiy Sketchy

HPep8OP

Hi hi! Welcome back to Kawaiiosity! I’m sure you’re probably wondering what happened to Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san? Well it hasn’t gotten many views or much talk so I figured I might as well drop it and focus on Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko for the time being. Muromi-san was a silly strange show that looked like it would be a blast to blog but sadly it been disappointing in the last few episodes, what would you expect right? Also not really having much fun with either. So with that I’m done blogging Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san, it was a blast, but wasn’t a best pick and I did learn a thing about blogging a random silly strange show! So let’s get into this week’s episode shall we!
